Dr. Daniel Eshaghian is a native of the San Fernando Valley. He attended UCLA for his undergraduate studies, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

He subsequently earned his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. Following graduation, he completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After residency training, Dr. Eshaghian spent two years practicing inpatient medicine as a Gastroenterology Hospitalist in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He ultimately completed a Gastroenterology fellowship at Oklahoma State University Medical Center, serving as chief fellow in his final year of training.

Dr. Eshaghian practices general gastroenterology and hepatology, with special interests in colorectal cancer screening, reflux disease, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. His desire to serve his hometown brought him back to Southern California after completing his medical training.

In his spare time, Dr. Eshaghian enjoys watching sports, cycling, European history and travel, and spending time with his family and friends. He is fluent in Farsi.

Dr. Salem earned his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Following medical school, he trained in Internal Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. During his time at Rush, he was selected to serve as Chief resident for one year, where he played an important role in training medical students and residents and received an award for excellence in teaching and service. He then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology also at Rush University Medical Center. During his fellowship, he was recognized with awards for excellence in GI endoscopy and a “Fellow of the Year” award.

Following training in Gastroenterology, Dr. Salem pursued additional specialization in advanced endoscopy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. During that time, he acquired dedicated training in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and ERCP, as well as other complex endoscopic procedures including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and enteral stenting. In addition, he gained significant experience taking care of patients with cancers affecting the GI tract.

Before joining United Gastroenterologists, Dr. Salem practiced at Carepoint Health Medical Group in New Jersey for 3 years. During that time, he established an interventional endoscopy program for the hospital system, helped educate and train fellows in Gastroenterology, led a GI tumor board, and served as Director of the Division of Gastroenterology at Christ Hospital.

Dr. Salem’s clinical practice encompasses all aspects of Gastroenterology, with additional focus using advanced endoscopic techniques in the diagnosis and management a broad range of GI disorders, including gallstones, pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts, GI cancer, Barrett’s esophagus, and colon polyps.

Dr. Salem is board certified in Gastroenterology as well as Internal Medicine. In addition, he is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
